Biography:
I am a primatologist with a doctorate in biological anthropology from the University of Kent, UK. I have over 15 years of research experience working in East and West Africa, specializing in primate nutritional ecology, human-wildlife interactions and resource competition in degraded environments. In recent years my research has become more applied, focusing on environmental impacts on great-ape diet and nutrition in order to improve health, welfare and conservation in captivity and the wild.
Current research areas:
Primate nutritional priorities and nutrient balancing.
Environmental influences on wild animal diet and nutrition.
Health and welfare of captive primates.
Human-wildlife interactions, shared-resources and resource competition.
Recent scholarly activity:
Principle investigator on the Great-ape Nutrition Project.
Lead writer and editor of "Best Practice Diet and Nutrition Guidelines" for the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA).
Educator and advisor for graduate students, NGOs, stakeholders, and communities on primate nutrition, applied nutrition, captive primate health and welfare, resource sustainability, human-wildlife interactions, shared-resources, mitigating resource competition and nutritional deficiencies.
