Biography: 

Matthew is an independent film scholar and researcher teaching Film Studies, Media and Photography at the secondary and postsecondary levels. He is a digital film adjunct at Grand Canyon University as well as a former dual-enrollment photography adjunct with Estrella Mountain Community College both located in and around Phoenix, Arizona. His research focus lies primarily in genre film studies (with a more sustained focus on the horror genre) with a specialized interest in the history, theory and aesthetics that surround, inform and drive genres and genre films. Matthew has been published in academic journals and serious critical publications online (Deep Focus Review, Horror Homeroom, Supernatural Studies, Palgrave Handbook of the Vampire, Palgrave Handbook of the Zombie (upcoming)) and is also an occasional cinematographer and photographer residing in Peoria, Arizona.
