Biography:
Lisa A. Francavilla is a historian of family, gender, material culture, and society in the United States and Britain, 1800 through 1945. She holds a PhD from George Mason University and is an Honorary Fellow of the Massachusetts Historical Society. As the former senior managing editor (retired) of the Papers of Thomas Jefferson: Retirement Series, she helped bring twenty-one volumes through to publication, and has authored and edited several other works as well. She is currently researching her next monograph and, preferring to keep busy, occasionally freelances as an editor.
