Biography:

I was born in NY city and attended school mostly in Southern California. I then went to MIT and studied physics. After I graduated I started graduate school, but dropped out (it was the late 60s!) and traveled the US and the world. After I few years I returned to study physics at UC Santa Cruz, and recived a PhD, doing research into methods for solving notty statistical mechanics problems. I then spent several years continuing my research while I ran the physics teaching labs. During that time I got an MBA at night, then started working in Silicon Valley. After two startups and many trips to Asia I decided to return to teaching, first at a small college in the Bay Area, then back at UC Santa Cruz. There I started collaborating with a long-time friend and mentor, and together we did research and publication into the foundations and implications of quantum mechanics. Looking toward retirement from teaching, I went back to school again, took up a long-time interest, got a degree in counseling psychoology, and have been practicing psychotherapy ever since. Along the way I have been married twice, and between my current wife of 30 years and myself we have 6 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-granchildren. Of late the research bug has bitten me again, and I am trying to pull together the diverse strands of my background to make a contribution.
