Biography:

I am an independent scholar and have conducted extensive fieldwork with faith healers in my native Louisiana. I have collected linguistic data for the Dictionary of Louisiana French: As Spoken in Cajun, Creole, and American Indian Communities (2009; ed. Albert Valdman and Kevin Rottet). My research interests include vernacular medicine, Mardi Gras, and, cultural and religious processions. My current focus is on herbal and home remedies in French Louisiana and I was awarded the 2017 Blanton Owen Award from the Amercian Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to continue field work.
