Biography: 

Dr. Bui is a quantitative social scientist with research expertise in population health and survey research. Beyond her experience in survey research, she also has broad research experience in various arenas, having worked in multiple settings from academia to policy think tanks and non-profits to federal government, which has provided her the flexibility to work for a multitude of topics and teams. She earned her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to joining HEOR at Optum, Dr. Bui was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health and Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. Dr. Bui has worked on studies related to technology and health, aging and cognitive decline, and social support and resilience. In addition, she has extensive teaching experience in applied social statistics and consulting experience with hospital and health organizations, which has allowed her to develop expertise in teaching and communicating complex findings and rigorous science to a broad audience. Dr. Bui has authored or co-authored publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Psychogeriatrics, SSM-Population Health, International Review of Modern Sociology, and Substance Use & Misuse.
