Biography:
Aren Lerner Craig holds a PhD in History from the University of Aberdeen. She is the author of “Every Revolution Was First a Thought: The Civil War and Transcendentalism in Transatlantic Context,” (2025 forthcoming), an intellectual history that offers a new interpretation of Transcendentalist philosophy and its role in Civil War culture and politics. Her work has appeared in the "New England Journal of History" and "The World of Antebellum America: A Daily Life Encyclopedia." She has also published several books of historical fiction, "Beneath Old Glory," that involved detailed research into the daily life and culture of the Civil War era.
