Dr Hannaford has had a wide-range of teaching experiences in the areas of Children's Literacy, English Literature, English as a Second Language, and Music, in Australia and overseas. In her early career, she taught Senior Secondary students and was a Faculty Co-ordinator in Australia. Her first encounter with an international educational setting occurred when she became Registrar of European Students at an English language school in Oxford, UK. From 2005 – 2010, she taught in a large International (IB) School in Europe. Commencing in 2010, Dr Hannaford directed her attention to full-time research and writing projects. She has spoken about 'globally mobile children' at a number of international conferences, and publishes for a range of audiences. Recent papers include: Hannaford, J. (2017) 'Using the (im)materialities framework to trace the contrapuntal lines of allegiance and belonging for globally mobile children.'
