Association for Independent Research  British association of people who conduct research, in any field, unsupported by formal academic institutions, research organizations, or industry.  Formal academic credentials are not essential but valued. AIR offers networking opportunities, publishes findings and maintains a high standard of scholarship.

American Society of Journalists and Authors

 Columbia University Seminars  Approximately 75 monthly meetings in New York City on focused but interdisciplinary topics such as Irish Studies, Child and Family Policy, and Population Biology.  Open to Columbia faculty, members of other institutions, and experts in the topic of the seminar.
