How Can You Join Us?
Individual Membership
NCIS welcomes people who are pursuing knowledge in or across any fields, but whose research, unlike that of full-time faculty, is not supported by an institution. Qualification for membership shall be work of scholarly merit or other indications of scholarly purpose. Although a graduate degree may serve as indication of scholarly purpose, it is not necessary for membership.
Members of NCIS may:
- Be listed in the NCIS Membership Directory
- Stand for Board elections and vote for the Board
- Receive the quarterly newsletter, The Independent Scholar, in electronic form
- Obtain information from the membership database
- Qualify for discounts on registration for conferences
- Have their contact information and areas of research included in this web page, if they wish to do so
- Host a web page outlining their CV and research areas accessible by the public (for a small additional fee)
